Celebrating Women’s History Month & International Women’s Day with Blaisdell's!

Women's History with Blaisdells Women's History with Blaisdells

March is Women’s History Month — a time to honor the remarkable achievements of women past and present. And on March 8th, we celebrate International Women’s Day — a global call to recognize women's contributions and advocate for a more inclusive, equitable future.

At Blaisdell’s Business Products, we are proud to be a woman-owned business and stand alongside the countless women who lead, inspire, and innovate every day. This month — and always — we celebrate the trailblazers who broke barriers, the leaders shaping today’s world, and the future changemakers to come.

How did Women's History Month get started?

Women’s History Month traces its roots back to International Women’s Day on March 8, which has been observed since the early 1900s. In the United States, the push for a dedicated time to recognize women's contributions gained momentum in the 1970s.

In 1978, a school district in Sonoma, California, organized a Women's History Week to highlight women's achievements. The movement spread, and in 1980, President Jimmy Carter proclaimed the week of March 8 as National Women's History Week.

By 1987, after petitions from the National Women's History Project, Congress officially designated March as Women's History Month. Since then, every U.S. president has continued the tradition by issuing annual proclamations celebrating the vital role of women in American history.

Today, Women's History Month is a time to honor the trailblazers of the past, celebrate women's contributions in the present, and inspire future generations.
